AN OPEN day is being held to consult on a changes to the design of the new Baptist Church in Cirencester.

The Cirencester Baptists’ congregation has outgrown their small church on Coxwell Street and the group bought the old social club in Chesterton, opposite the Shell service station, for half a million pounds last year.

Since then the group has changed parts of its design for the new building, which is to include a 500 seat auditorium, to include a cafe for community use.

Senior Pastor Matt Frost said that the recommendation for a cafe had come up again and again while they were out collecting the views of nearby residents.

“The plans for the church have moved on and become more detailed,” he said, “We think they are a lot better so we are going to go back to planning a few weeks time.”

The open day will be from 10am – 2pm on Saturday March 28 at the former social club on Love Lane. All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.
