A NEW all-women business club is due to be launched in Cirencester and organisers are planning a charity fashion show to celebrate.

I am Woman was originally launched in Swindon but now founder, Cheryl Bass, has plans to set up a group in Cirencester.

The women held one of their first networking meetings in the town last week at The King’s Head Hotel to give local female entrepreneurs the chance to meet, chat and network.

And on May 20 the group will be hosting a charity fashion show at the King’s Head to officially launch the Cirencester group, and members are hoping to find local girls and women who are prepared to model clothes on the catwalk.

“We thought we would like to do a fashion show to showcase the wonderful fashions here because Cirencester is a town of style,” said Cheryl.

“So we’re using the town’s most stylish hotel to showcase some of the best styles that Cirencester has to offer.”

Show organiser and I am Woman member Vivienne Sharman-Lewis said the aim of the club was to generate more business for women from other women.

“We’re getting business women in Gloucestershire to promote themselves through a high profile event,” she said.

Cheryl added: “We are all about business. We are coming into Cirencester to help women sell more. Women dominate 85 per cent of the consumer market. So it makes sense for women to deal with women.

“The beauty of bringing all these women together is that we all help each other.”

The fashion show on May 20 will see women from Gloucestershire parade up and down the catwalk in clothes from local shops. Proceeds from the night will go towards Heals Malmesbury, a charity which offers help and support to the disadvantaged, and also one Cirencester-based charity yet to be chosen.

All women will also be able to meet other like-minded female entrepreneurs to share tips. The Cirencester I am Woman group meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the King’s Head Hotel.
