IF YOU have been impressed by a young person's selfless commitment, you can now nominate them for the Cirencester Young Citizen of the Year Award.

The award by Cirencester Rotary Club aims to recognise young people who have made a dedicated contribution to their schools or colleges, their community, a charity or a youth or sports club.

Previous winners include Amy-May Knowles, 2012 winner, who went on to national recognition for her charitable work and was one of the forces behind the successful establishment of the Phoenix Festival in 2013.

Luke Harding, 2014 winner, used his award to develop his coaching and refereeing skills to support junior football in the area.

The award is open to anyone under 18 (at 31 August 2016) who lives in or near Cirencester.

Nominations will be shortlisted by representatives from the Rotary Club and the Bingham Library Trust.

An awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 27, in the Bingham Library.
