A FAMILY-friendly wrestling show will be returning to Cirencester.

CWF3, Cirencester Wrestling Federation’s third annual show, will take place on August 13 from 12.30pm at Deer Park School.

The event, which will be fundraising for Meningitis Now, consists of a series of matches and championships including the popular Battle Royal match, the CWF World Championship, the Corinium Champion of Cirencester, and the Tag Team Championship.

Set to appear at the show will be the Assassin, a masked wrestler who gets paid by a mystery person to attack wrestlers like "The Thundercat" Darren Brown.

Hannah Marie Kilminster, 2015 X Factor contestant from Cirencester, and Lewis Blain, a veteran of the UK wrestling scene, will also be making special appearances this year.

Hannah will be performing during the halftime interval, and Lewis will be taking part in the show’s wrestling.

‘The Voice’ Shane Valiant, who is performing as commentator of the show, said: "The people of Cirencester better be prepared for the excellence that is me.

“I will not be worshipping the likes of The Thundercat and Danny Owens like the rest of you losers. I will be entertaining you all with my great knowledge of wrestling and you better show me respect when I arrive at CWF3."

TV personality Terry Noble ‘Terry From The Telly’, will also be playing the general manager of the CWF.

The event is being organised by Darren Brown, 37, from Siddington but who is living in Swindon.

He said: “The show is like American wrestling. We have the bad guys and the good guys and we try to make it entertaining with good storylines so people will come back.

“The performers are all trained wrestlers who have been wrestling for years all over the country and the world, otherwise, they would get injured.

“I’ve always been a wrestling fan and I figured I would do something I enjoy and raise money for meningitis. The show will be fundraising for local charity Meningitis Now.

“It’s a family friendly show, fans and kids seem to enjoy it. There is no swearing and no people bleeding. It is all for charity."

Speaking of his choice of charity, Darren said: “I had meningitis when I was a baby and I was minutes from death

“I have raised over £1000 so far from CWF.

“Last year, we had just over 100 people from around the country. Every year it gets bigger and bigger, and this year, we are looking at 150 to 200 people.

“I am really excited about CWF3 and performing in front of the Cirencester crowd, my home town. I love raising money for Meningitis Now and I always get a huge reaction from the fans who cheer me on.

“It can get stressful organising the show but once the day arrives and we have performed, it will all be worth it.”

Tickets are £5 and are available to buy in advance or at the door. Refreshments will be served, and children under five can go for free.
