A TEAM of employees joined forces to take on north Wiltshire’s answer to Le Mans, in aid of good causes.

Staff from truck manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus UK raised more than £435 after taking part in the annual Crudwell 24-hour charity bike ride.

Teams of all ages and ability compete to raise the most sponsorship at the community fundraising event every year.

MAN Team members Lamar Stevens, Simon Day, Joanne Herridge and team captain Russell Stevenson, together with non-MAN employee Anthony Hunt, took it in turns to complete 280 miles in the 24-hour relay.

Part of the team’s money will go towards planned improvements for Crudwell Village Hall, however 60 per cent will go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Joanne Herridge said: “We cannot thank people enough for their support and are delighted with the amount of money we have raised.

“We took it in turns to complete a seven-mile circuit, which was quite hilly in parts, through Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

“Each circuit took about 25 minutes to complete, taking a bit longer as we went through the night. Between us, we completed about 40 laps.

“Our team is called Bad MANners, and about eight of us took part in the event two years ago, raising money for the same charity.

“I admit, we did little training this time, so it was hard, but we had great team spirit and all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
