A CHARITY is hoping to provide help to more visually impaired people in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) has been providing specially adapted radios to blind and partially sighted people since 1928.

The radios they provide can offer people much needed companionship as well as news, information and entertainment, and are issued on free permanent loan to those who meet the charity’s criteria.

Bradley Samuels, of BWBF, is hoping to reach out to more visually impaired people in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire who could benefit from a free set.

“I’m hoping we can reach out to even more residents who are living with sight loss,” he said.

“Many blind people spend a lot of time indoors, unable to read a newspaper or watch TV, so our specially adapted radios become their lifeline to the world.

“Sometimes the cost of a radio can be too great for someone on a limited income, so we are there to help.

“If you know anyone in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire who could benefit from one of our sets, please do get in touch with us and see if we can help.

“Volunteers are vital to our charity and allow us to continue helping people who need our radios – so again please contact us if you’d like to find out more.”
