Tetbury had a very special visitor last week - Geshe Lama Ahbay Tulku a Tibetan Buddhist monk, who is third in line to his holiness the Dalai Lama, writes Kevin Painter.

He prepared a special healing ceremony at the council offices in the main courtroom where he met staff, volunteers and councillors. Every person attending was personally given a blessing.

Tara Niblett, Tetbury Town Council CEO who officially welcomed him, said it was an honour to meet him and his ‘lovely engaging and warm smile, which complimented his gentle, approachable nature and great sense of humour enhanced his ability of finding and creating peace, mindfulness, compassion and happiness’.

She added: “It certainly was a welcome change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the council building which is home to the council officers, the ground staff, the Police Museum, the Comic Art Gallery, community fridge, and the many specialist services that visit and use our offices.

“It made me realise what a great team we have that work for our lovely town, and how blessed we are, literally! Thank you all.”
