WILTSHIRE Police has announced that the A419 closed this morning because a woman's body was discovered beside the carriageway.
The road was closed from the White Hart roundabout to the Rat Trap roundabout by police officers at around 7.30am this morning, Friday, August 11.
Detectives who examined the scene are not treating the woman's death as suspicious.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Earlier this morning we closed the A419 in Swindon from the White Hart roundabout to the Rat Trap roundabout following the discovery of a woman who was sadly deceased beside the carriageway.
"After examining the scene, detectives are not treating her death as suspicious.
"The woman’s next of kin have been informed of the tragic news and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
"The carriageway has since been reopened."
