Flying Monk Art Trail returns to Wiltshire this weekend

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Flying Monk Art Trail which takes place across 15 different venues in Malmesbury, Charlton, Lea, Pinkney and Little and Great Somerford and features work by more than 40 Wiltshire-based artists. 

The event has been organised by Malmesbury-based arts development organisation Caerbladon which also ran the Pride of Place Festival earlier this year that celebrated the works of artists and makers living and working in the Malmesbury area.

Local artists will be opening up their studios, homes and pop-up spaces to the public on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday,  September 24. 

Visitors will be able to admire a range of art, ceramics, sculptures, glass and textiles on display.

There will also be an opportunity to find out about the artists' techniques and the ideas behind their creations.

For example, painters Nicki Heenan and Brian Smith will be giving live painting demonstrations in Pinkney at the weekend.

The Little Somerford Art Group will also being displaying its members’ work and have organised a Macmillan Big Coffee Morning where tea and cake will be available to buy to raise funds for cancer services.
