A SMALL group of kind-hearted residents in Cirencester have come together to organise free monthly meals for those in need.

Melissa Spagnoli, along with help from her fellow parishioners, will be hosting community kitchen meals at St Peter's Parish Hall in St Peter's Road, Cirencester over the next few months.

57 people turned up to the first community kitchen event on Sunday, October 22 - which was curry themed - and were welcomed by a hostess, seated with a menu and got the chance to order options from a three-course menu.

Owner of Cirencester-based Indian Rasoi Roman Abu provided the starters and Meliny Tim, member of St Mary's parish,  prepared the main dishes.

Melissa said: “These events are all free for anyone who needs a warm meal.

"Sunday's dinner was served by members of St Mary’s in Cricklade, St Thomas in Fairford and St Peter’s in Cirencester.

"Our next event will be a Mexican Fiesta on Sunday, November 19 and then on Sunday, December 17 for a Christmas Celebration.

"In January we will be hosting a Taste of Italy Evening on Sunday, January 21."

All the upcoming events will held on a Sunday every month between 6pm and 8pm at St Peter's Parish Hall in Cirencester for anyone who needs a warm meal.

There is no need to book, people can just turn up to the hall on the set days.

More information about future events can be found on the Community Kitchen Facebook page.
