STAFF at a performing arts company have announced that they will be offering free hot meals and an abundance of fun activities to eligible children across Wiltshire over the Christmas break.

Revolution Performing Arts will be taking part in The Department of Education's FUEL programme - which stands for food, unity, energy and laughter - to ensure that thousands of children who usually receive free school meals have access to nutritious, hot meals over the holiday period.

The programme is also available to children that are refugees, children that are currently in the care system, young carers and children that have been referred into the programme by a professional service.

The performing arts school will be holding workshops at a variety of leisure centres across Wiltshire, including Lime Kiln Leisure Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett, Riverside Community Centre in Malmesbury, Marlborough Leisure Centre and Olympiad Leisure Centre in Chippenham.

Children will be able to part in an array of activities including singing, dancing, drama, face-painting and magic tricks.

Founder of Revolution Performing Arts Fi Da Silva-Adams said: “I know from personal experience just how much difference the arts can make to children who face personal challenges.

“As someone who grew up in a very poor and neglectful household, the arts became my sanctuary.

“Whilst I know we’re not providing therapy to the children that come to our sessions, there’s no doubt in my mind that creative activities have a therapeutic element to them and can make so much difference to a child’s ability to cope in difficult times.

"They’re also enormous fun!”

Children who are not eligible for free school meals can also take part in sessions for £20 plus an extra £3 for a hot meal.
