WELL we’ve had a great start to 2024 at the markets, with numbers rising steadily through January to get back to normal last weekend.

Despite the reduced stall numbers, January has been “excellent” for traders at the market so we can be pleased with that.

We are also pleased that the inaugural Vegan Market, which was last Sunday, turned out to be a success for stalls and customers alike.

We have some rather sad news to announce, which is that Studio Pastry have stepped down from running the market café so they can focus on their pasties.

Daisy’s Farm café, which has been alternating with them, is stepping in on a weekly basis for the time being, thankfully.

Elsewhere, customers may also have noticed the absence of Paget’s Produce, of the huge stacks of carrots fame.

It is looking very likely that their health may mean they are unable to continue as stallholders. There is a possibility they may return in the spring, but we can’t be sure.

It will be a bumper Saturday this week, so come on down and stock up for the week, 9-2 every Saturday at the Cornhill market square and surrounding streets.
