A NEW business owner in Tetbury received a red carpet welcome over the weekend.

Town mayor Liz Farnham proudly cut a ribbon, with some very special shears owned by Lutz Wagner, to mark the official opening of Flooring South West at 51 Long Street on Saturday, March 2.

Excited shoppers, friends and family were treated to a sumptuous array of nibbles and drinks upon entering the premises.

Attendees were also sent off with a goodie bag from luxury flooring provider Brampton Chase.

Every wood, LVT and carpet sample on display in the showroom has been meticulously chosen by the business owner, James Padden, who is passionate about providing a high quality service.

Mr Padden, aged 41, decided to open a showroom in Tetbury because he wants to give back to the community that he grew up in, just a few miles outside Kingscote.

The dad-of-three has worked in Cheltenham, Bath and Gloucester over the last few years but said the historic town feels like home.

His flooring business also guarantees fitters and he said he will always go the extra mile for his customers to ensure a seamless transaction.

The business owner was chuffed when his first sale at the new showroom was a couple who bought two rooms worth of carpets from Riviera Home's Tetbury range.

At the grand opening, Mr Padden said: "First I want to thank my family and friends all who have supported me.

"And the amazing new people I have met in this wonderful town, and feel quite blessed, and really feel at home here, which is appropriate as good flooring helps turn any house into a home!

"I will be taking an active interest in the town by supporting the Woolsack Races, Comic-Con and the new Tetbury Chamber.

"We are proud to support the British wool trade from our own historic home town Tetbury and we are also able to supply and fit carpets from well-known established manufacturers such as Brintons, Axminster, Westex, Victoria, Brockway, Crucial Trading, Associated Weavers, and of course a special mention to the carpets from Riviera Home's Tetbury range.
