The A419 was closed near Cirencester and for over a day.

The southbound carriageway of the major A-road was closed by National Highways for maintenance between Cricklade and Spine Road, near Cerney Wick, at 1am on Saturday, April 13.

Drivers were warned that the route would be inaccessible at all times until 7am on Sunday, April 14, according to the council’s roadworks map.

A  lengthy diversion route went through Ashton Keynes, Leigh, and Cricklade.

National Highways engineers carried out structural maintenance to the key road.

This comes as part of a spate of works to that stretch of the A419.

Lane two of the A-road’s northbound carriageway was also shut at Cricklade between 8pm on Friday, April 12, and 11am on Saturday, April 13.

This closure was in place so that bridge joint works could take place.
