Belle Vue 41
Swindon Robins 49
SWINDON announced their return to the play-off race with a stunning 49-41 win at Belle Vue on Monday night.
Grand Prix star Troy Batchelor and brilliant reserve Steve Worrall topped the Robins' scorechart with 11, but this was a solid all-round display from Alun Rossiter's men who claimed all four league points on offer.
Batchelor teamed up with Peter Kildemand for a brilliant last-gasp 5-1 in Heat 15 to hand Swindon all the points. A 5-1 to the Aces in the same decider would have seen them draw the match.
With just three heats remaining the scores were level after a tense battle, but Rossiter had his side pumped for the points.
"It was a great win tonight and a full team effort from the boys," he said.
"Nick Morris didn't have the best of nights but he's taken two steps back to take three forward as he's got a new mechanic. You'll see a different Nick Morris soon, I'm sure of that.
"Special praise goes to Peter Kildemand, he's got up and got on a plane early this morning after competing in Russia and that's commitment.
"I thought we would struggle tonight because Belle Vue are so good but we all chipped in and all the boys did a good job."
BELLE VUE: Scott Nicholls 12, Stefan Nielsen 8, Michael Palm Toft 7, Matej Zagar 6, Craig Cook 5+1, Richie Worrall 3, Lee Payne 0.
SWINDON: Troy Batchelor 11, Steve Worrall 11, Peter Kildemand 10+2, Dakota North 6, Simon Gustafsson 6, Nathan Greaves 3+1, Nick Morris 2+1.
