THE young Vics young team worked hard to gain a point against their far more experienced opponents Intel, who had former Malmesbury stalwart Bobby Hunt in their ranks.

Malmesbury started well, with front runners Tyler Quinnell and Jordan Thompson causing problems with their speed and guile. It was no surprise when The Vics took the lead when a great cross by Robbie Pitman broke to Sam Wilkins who crashed the ball home from fully 25 yards.

Intel pressed forward, but it wasn't until the 45th minute that they managed to square the game, when the Vics players made the cardinal sin of not playing to the whistle, allowing their opponents to run through unopposed before slotting the ball home.

The second half started with Intel much in the ascendancy, and they deservedly took the lead following some sloppy defending.

Back came Malmesbury on the attack, putting pressure on the home goal while Intel relied on breakaways and both keepers were kept busy.

The Vics justly equalised midway through the half when Intel failed to clear and Wilkins was on hand to sweep home his and Malmesbury's second.
