Stratton Youth U18s 8 Purton U18s 1

MAX LUKAWECKYJ was in great form on Sunday as he grabbed five goals in Stratton’s convincing win over Purton.

With a bare 11 players and with Alex Harding having to take over in goal for the day, Stratton started the game slowly.

However, Lukaweckyj soon put paid to Purton, scoring the opener and then setting up Tom Cox for a second in quick succession before Cox fired in a terrific goal to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Stratton were in total control in the second half and bombarded the Purton goal. The onslaught paid off as Lukaweckyj helped himself to a further four goals and Chris White added the final goal.

An excellent team performance throughout.

MoM: Max Lukaweckyj

Stratton Youth U17s 6 Croft U18s 3

THE REFEREE failed to show up for this fixture and by the end it really needed an experienced head in charge.

Stratton were lively from the start and much improved for the introduction of new boy Charlie Savage.

Stratton took the lead on eight minutes with a goal from Harry Rogers and that was followed five minutes later by a Sam Grafton header, which cancelled out the visitors' equaliser.

Grafton then added a third on 25 minutes and that is how it remained at the interval.

The second half saw Grafton grab his hat-trick two minutes after the restart and that was followed three minutes later by a superb finish from Savage.

Stratton then started to panic and spent the next 20 minutes defending as Croft played out the second half in the Stratton final third.

The visitors grabbed two goals in 10 hectic minutes. The final 15 minutes got edgy and numerous players lost their heads. After order was restored Stratton seemed to use the break to find their passing game again and Harry Rogers sealed the victory with a fabulous solo run and low shot in the final minute.

MoM: Charlie Savage.

Stratton Youth U15s 7 Fairford U15s 0

THE news before the game that Tom Chisholm was out with a broken wrist was a big blow but Sid Smith and Ryan Wardle came in for their first starts and both made a good impression.

The first half was fairly scrappy but Stratton led 1-0 at half-time through Michael Cook from one of a number of corners delivered in to dangerous areas by James Thomas.

The second half was a more one-sided affair as Stratton grew in confidence and Fairford tired. Louie Jackson and Mike McCarten were more organized in defence and Cook completed a hat-trick with Joe Speak, Matt Hopkins, Sid Smith and James Doyle also scoring.

Stratton Youth U14s 3 Liden U15s 4

AN entertaining game in which Stratton Youth U14s had the better game but failed to get the result.

A well-worked goal saw Tiyree Phillipson put Stratton in the lead with a header following a fine cross from Ayden Clarke on 22 minutes.

A particularly fine save from Liden's goalie stopped Jamie Witt from scoring from the edge of the penalty box to keep the score to 1-0 at half-time.

The second half saw Stratton's lead extend to two goals as Phillipson scored again. Liden responded quickly with a goal a minute later. Further pressure saw them equalise soon afterwards.

Stratton took the lead once more with Matthew James slotting home a fine goal, one on one with the keeper on 55 minutes.

Liden didn’t let their heads drop, and got back into the game with two successive goals to take the lead 4-3 and finish the game as winners.

BOTH these teams started slowly with chances at both ends.

Midway through the first half, Josh Littler-Jenings opened the scoring for the visitors, however Spencer Hughes soon levelled the scoring from close range.

Stratton then moved up a gear with Josh and Harry Dyer putting them 3-1 up before the break.

The second half was again even until the last 10 minutes when goals from Kian Hawtin, Charlie Grace, Fred Hall and a third from Josh put the result beyond doubt, even though Hughes did score another for the home team.

STRATTON YOUTH U9s began their campaign with a good game away to Wootton Bassett with Charlie Miller on the score sheet.

The U7s also started and enjoyed themselves at Blunsdon Colts with a cricket-like score.
