Malmesbury Vics Res 5

Lechlade FC 87 4

MALMESBURY VICS Reserves produced an amazing Allan Webb-inspired second half display to come from 4-1 down to secure an unlikely victory on Tuesday night.

Malmesbury took the lead in the ninth minute when striker Ben Wright robbed the keeper to knock the ball into an empty net.

Lechlade were on level terms six minutes later through Tom Maskell's audacious 40-yard chip.

Lechlade deservedly took the lead in 34th minute direct from a free kick by Ollie Waite and extended their lead with further goals by Martin Watson and Waite.

Malmesbury were thwarted by a fantastic double save early in the second half by the visiting keeper before Wright scored to get them back to 2-4.

The Lechlade goal was under siege and veteran second-half substitute Allan Webb reduced the deficit still further.

Three minutes later it was 4-4 as Webb again was on hand to fire home a cross from Wright.

Chances went begging for the home side until the 88th minute when Webb completed his hat-trick and an amazing turnaround for the home side.

MoM: Allan Webb.
