DEER PARK ARCHERS have this week demonstrated why they are fast becoming one of the country’s most successful clubs – sweeping the board at Archery GB’s ontarget Club and Volunteer Awards and claiming 14 county records at their latest Club Target Day, writes Isobel Holley.

Deer Park were recipients of three of the six prestigious awards from ontarget.

The club’s joint winner of the Young Volunteer of the Year award was Katherine Frusher, 17, who has been with the club since 2008.

The club itself was awarded the Innovation in Archery award for its success in promoting the sport to an exceptional standard in youngsters and involvement in the local community.

Deer Park also collected a third gong – the Partnership Award – for their work alongside Xperience Archery and Active Gloucestershire.

The Club Target Day took place in sunny but blustery June conditions at the home base in Shurdington, where GB international Lucy Mason stole the show in breaking five county records.

Rachel Lucas broke four more, while Will Gore, Molly Peters, Roger Crang, Mike and John Dalton also set new best marks.

The competition also acted as a fundraising event, with the club hosting their usual Saturday open community session, sponsored by Gloucestershire County Council Active Together Programme
