Douggie Rolles Cup
CHRIS TASNEY led the qualifiers for the prestigious Douggie Rolles Cup at Cirencester Golf Club with a net 67 off his handicap of 24.
Chris edged out Ashton Keynes’ star cricketer and racing enthusiast Tom Waller (69) by a couple of shots.
Steve Titchener pipped the in-form recent Bagendon 100 Cup winner Adam Collins on countback for third place. Both shot net 70s.
The full list of 16 players who go forward to the knock out element of the Douggie Rolles are: Chris Tasney, Tom Waller, Steve Titchener, Adam Collins, Bob Mills, Paul Daniel, Tony Francis, Alison Kelly, Evan Drayton, Jessica Brown, John Lovatt, Bob Herbert, David Murray, Andrew Parffrey, Mark Clayton and Dan Gregory who shot the lowest gross score of 77 along with Ali Kelly.
Mark Clayton’s qualification means he has the chance to add the Douggie Rolles Cup to his groaning trophy cabinet which already includes this year’s Ellett Cup.
Five players hit birdie twos: David Murray (2nd); Rob Worthington (2nd); Jonathan Peach (9th); Paul Daniel (18th) and Stephen Titchener (18th).
May Midweek Medal
JUST a dozen members contested the May Midweek Medal and no one was able to better the standard scratch score of 70.
Paul Loxton pipped former club champion Steve Bishop on countback with his net 71 as single figure handicappers dominated the leaderboard.
Cirencester Town Development side defender George Peare edged out former Cirencester Town player Darren Robison for third place, both scoring net 72s.
Robison did shoot the lowest gross round of the day with his 76.
Birdie twos came from Bishop and Loxton, both on the 13th hole.
