COTSWOLD Strollers' over 70s side played its first competitive walking football matches when entertaining Hartshill Strollers from Kingswinford in the West Midlands at the Inside Football centre near Stroud.
The visitors fielded two players who were in their early 60s so at times it was an uphill battle.
The first of the three 18-minute matches saw Charlie Wise give the home side the lead with one of his trademark left foot thunderbolts, but Hartshill equalised late on. The second game saw Charlie again score to put Cotswold one up but two late strikes saw Hartshill win 2-1.
Finally the Hartshill side, with many more walking football games under their belts, won 2-0 as the home team ran out of steam.
