THE Corinium Goblets Open competition at Cirencester Golf Club has been won by Simon and Izzy Lloyd from Tewkesbury Park GC with a score of 42 points.

The father and daughter team came out on top of the 92 players from 21 different clubs who were represented in the prestigious event.

With the Tewkesbury Park duo winning the overall prize, first place in the guests’ competition went to Tony & Liz Smith (Monmouthshire Golf Club) on 35 points.

They were followed home by Derek & Libby Bellow (Mendip Golf Club) 34; George & Susan Baylis (Kidderminster Golf Club) 33 and Paul & Judith Ezzard (Crediton Golf Club) 32.

The winners of the Cirencester members’ competition were Keith and Sue Hodgson (40 points), who edged Graham and Debbie Hewitt (40) on countback.

The combined member and guest prize went to Fiona Harrington and John Thrower (Upavon) on 34 points.

Nearest The Pin (Ladies) went to Naomi Austin (Cotswold Hills).

Nearest The Pin (Gentlemen) was won by Rob Worthington (Cirencester).

CIRENCESTER Golf Club throws open its doors to another major competition on Friday, the Men’s Open.

There is a record field of 124 in the starting line-up.
