THE Gloucestershire Young Cricketers Awards evening saw Corse and Staunton's Cerys King named U13 Girls Player of the Year, while Henry Findlay-Wilson of Langford/Charlton Kings won the U14 Boys Player of the year award.

Gloucestershire’s Royal London One-Day Cup winning heroes handed out trophies to the next generation of stars at the county’s annual Young Cricketers presentation night, while Ian Cockbain and Benny Howell took part in an on-stage question and answer session.

Speaking at the presentation evening, which was held at the Brightside Ground, Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) head of performance Tim Hancock said: “It has been another excellent season for Gloucestershire’s county age groups and the future looks very bright indeed.”

The audience also heard about the GCB’s first ever tour to Sri Lanka, which took place in February, and recognised the achievement of U15's Joe Dryell of Downend CC who represented the South West at this year’s prestigious Bunbury Festival.

As for the award winners, Cerys King was top run-scorer for Corse and Staunton in the season, and coach Nick Tidball said: "Cerys showed great application and concentration with the bat, finishing as the team’s top run scorer with 144 runs at an average of 24.

"She is also a reliable fielder who bowled well when required."

Henry Findlay-Wilson, who won Performance of the Year as a Langford player in 2015, won the U14 Boys Player of the Year award for an outstanding 2016 campaign.
