Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup 2nd Round
Holyport 0
Fairford Town 6
JOSH MORSE scored a hat-trick in eight first-half minutes as Fairford Town cruised into the next round of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup with a 6-0 win at Holyport.
The visitors wasted little time in getting up and running and striker Jack Ellis twice went close in the opening exchanges, only to be forced off with a knee injury soon after.
Morse scored his first on an eventful night after 34 minutes – with an assist from Luke Cordery –before doubling the advantage two minutes later.
Substitute Shayne Hibbert, who had come on in place of Ellis, scored his first senior goal for the Reds on 38 minutes to make it 3-0.
And Morse rounded off a personal treble in the 42nd minute to seal an impressive eight-minute hat-trick.
Having taken a four-goal lead into the break, visiting manager Gareth Davies saw his side extend their advantage on 52 minutes when Steve Hall, recalled to the line-up, smashed home the fifth with a 20-yard effort.
Hibbert then grabbed his second of the night on the hour to complete a sparkling showing from the visitors, who had borrowed Swindon Town’s team coach for the trip along the M4.
Second half subs Sam Mepham and Adam Bright entered the fray but there were no further goals as the Reds sealed a place in the third round draw.
Fairford Town: Mitchell; Cordery (Bright), Dainton, Saunders, Hall; Ockwell (Mepham, Boucher, Blackford, Jackson; Ellis (Hibbert), Morse.
