Fairford Town 7

Cheltenham Saracens 0

NEW signing Levi Cox scored a hat-trick for the second successive game as leaders Fairford Town ran out 7-0 winners against Cheltenham Saracens at Cinder Lane.

The win was recorded in front of a good crowd, many of them in attendance to pay their respects to former manager and player Richard Hadgkiss who passed away earlier in the week. There was a minute’s silence before kick-off with ‘Hadgie’ fondly remembered by the Cinder Lane faithful.

Cox had the ball in the net just seven minutes in but the assistant referee’s flag ruled the effort offside. However, on 22 minutes the frontman scored his fourth goal in two outings following a corner to give the Reds the lead.

Fairford continued to carve out openings with Lee Smith, Josh Morse and Steve Hall all going close before the second goal arrived. Cox was again the scorer, netting two minutes from the interval.

Morse then scored the home third goal with a well taken effort before doubling his personal tally for the day on 53 minutes.

Cox rounded off his hat-trick with the Fairford fifth just 10 minutes into the second period.

A handball inside the box offered Smith the chance of number six and he safely dispatched the spot-kick on the hour. Just two minutes later Smith rattled home number seven as the Reds took their tally to 21 goals scored in their last three outings.
