BOURTON Roadrunners took a 25-strong squad to Pendock for the 5K and 10K respective races at the weekend.

Five opted for the 5Km race, with Junior member Edward Hare finishing first overall in a stunning time of 20 minutes and 57 seconds, while Pippa Krzywiec was the first female to complete the challenging course in sixth-place overall in a time of 24:48. Margaret Hollamby was first Senior Woman in 29:22. Patrick and Julie Smith, who joined the club through the club’s #Couchto5k program, ran together and finished in 39:55 and 39:56 respectively.

The rest of the team charged into the 10K race. Tim Carter led the club home finishing 7th overall in 42:26. Next to finish was Dougal Hamilton-Smith in 47:46, managing to stay in front of Derek Darby, who achieved 49:16. Bourton’s Rebecca Townsend finished 1st Senior Woman in a time of 50:28.

Other Bourton runners included Claire Cox (55:32), Ian Tolfts (56:13), Graham Lane (57:19), Barry O’Leary (58:59), Iain Cox (59:46), Giles Canning (61:16), Viv D’Alton (63:20), Gill Carrick (64:45), Louise Townsend (70:50), John Gibson (71:10), Noelle Morgan (71:12), Louise Hamilton-Smith (71:38), Allie Quinn (78:01), Samantha Mellor (78:02), Val McKay (78:25), Imogen Cox (79:04) and Jenny Evanson (82:11).

But it was not just Pendock for Bourton runners over the weekend. Jaq Underwood and Claire Carroll participated in the highly respected Bath Half Marathon. Underwood completed the course in 1:48:23 and Carroll in 2:17:29.

Kevin Goodwill always enjoys a race with a difference and this weekend it was 'The Big Cheese' at Cheddar, Somerset, providing a 15 mile off-road fell race across the Mendip Hills, incorporating 2000 feet of ascent, completing the course in 2 hours and 32 minutes.

Susan Hunt took part in the 'The Grizzly'; a 20-mile challenge taking in the glorious East Devon coastline and countryside, with more than 3000 feet of ascent over the route. She did brilliantly to finish in five hours, 16 minutes and 26 seconds.
